Spirits
You may not have noticed this, but we like wine around these parts. And these are good parts in which to live if you enjoy the occasional vino, because there are countless ways to imbibe.
We definitely have our favorite wineries (this one and this one are two of said favorites), but we also make an effort to try out something new every once in a while.
This weekend, we tried out Blenheim Vineyards. Blenheim is owned by this guy. You may have heard of him. He's kind of a big deal, and we of Central Virginia tend to like him.
Aaanyhoodle, Blenheim. Blenheim's tasting room was beautifully designed, with a wall of windows that takes full advantage of their ridiculous view.

Portions of the floor are also glass, so you can get a glimpse of the inner sanctum down below.

Their chardonnay was my favorite. Really light and lovely.

Branching out is nice, but Cardinal Point remains our favorite. They have good wine, plenty of shady outdoor space for a picnic and for the kiddies to run around, and they host good music (not to mention oysters). If I'm looking for a good light summer red, a nice cool glass of Rockfish Red makes me happy.

You may prefer more people-watching with your sipping, in which case the Downtown Mall is hard to resist, especially on a pretty day. Siips is a nice place to work on my resolution to enjoy some bubbles any time, not just special occasions.

My lunch date was a little under the weather, but she's always a good conversationalist.
